Areal Flood Watch
Issued by the National Weather Service at 10:50 am EDT on September 5, 2008

... Flood Watch in effect from Saturday morning through Sunday
afternoon...

The National Weather Service in State College has issued a

* Flood Watch for a portion of central Pennsylvania... including
the following counties... Dauphin... Lancaster... Lebanon...
Schuylkill and York.

* From Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon.

* Scattered showers and thunderstorms ahead of Tropical Storm
Hanna will spread across the area starting as early as this
evening... with rain showers and thunderstorms becoming more
numerous overnight. Rain will continue through the day Saturday
and into Sunday morning. Rain will be heavy at
times... especially during the day Saturday as Hanna makes its
closest approach to Pennsylvania... along the New Jersey coast.
Rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected with locally
heavier amounts possible. While recent dry conditions will allow
most of the rain to be absorbed... locally heavy tropical rains
and runoff into streams and rivers may cause some flooding
problems into Sunday afternoon across the watch area.

* Some flash flooding is also possible along smaller streams and
tributaries on Saturday with locally heavy rain.

A Flood Watch means that flooding is possible but not imminent in
the watch area. Check your preparedness requirements... especially
if you have interests along rivers or streams in the area. Keep
informed... and be ready for action if flooding is observed or if
a Flood Warning is issued.
