Band of strong showers and embedded thunderstorms from Bertie County to the North Carolina and Virginia border... At 510 PM EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a band of strong showers and embedded thunderstorms over southern Bertie County... about 12 miles east of Windsor to 38 miles southwest of Rich Square... or from 8 miles west of Edenton to 9 miles southwest of Tarboro... moving north at 24 mph. In addition... numerous other showers extended northward into southeast Virginia. Radar estimates of 1/2 to 1 inch per hour of precipitation is occurring with these showers and storms. Locations that are likely to be affected over the next hour include Aulander... Ahoskie... Rich Square and Gatesville. Lightning and wind gusts to 30 mph are expected in the path of these storms. Heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water on roads and possible localized flooding in low lying areas.
