marine weather statement for the Maritimes issued by Environment
Canada at 3:50 p.M. AST Friday 9 January 2009.

An intensifying low pressure system south of Laurentian Fan will move
northeastward and intensify this evening as it moves over the Grand
Banks. Strong northwest winds will develop across the district in the
wake of the low. Winds over southern offshore waters are expected to
reach near to gale force this evening. The strong winds will bring
colder air across the district and consequently freezing spray to
northern waters tonight.

On Sunday a low pressure system is forecast to approach from Cape
Cod. It is expected that the low will intensify as it passes south of
Nova Scotia later on Sunday and winds may reach gale strength.

Marine interests are advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all coastal waters.
